Name: Michael Ward
Date of
Birth:
2/9/1972
Where did you grow up?
Gold Coast until 13 - Rockhampton until 18
What
is your favourite memory growing up?:
Playing rugby league on a Saturday morning. I'd usually play 3 games each week.
What's your favourite movie of all time?:
The Lost Boys - Such a cult movie from the 80's
What's your favourite
song of all time & why?:
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant - Billy Joel. An all-time classic.
How long have you been in
the fitness industry?:
Just over 15yrs
How did you get into
the fitness industry?:
I had always loved playing sport and during high school got right into the theory behind exercise, I loved the physiology of exercise. So someone once said to me if you find a way to get paid for doing something you love, you'll never work a day in your life. And that's what I did. I always wanted a job that I could turn up in sandshoes and shorts.
What
do you think is the most important value to have in fitness and in
life?:
Be true and consistent. And never give up. If you really want something you're going to have to fight for it, so dig your heels in and give it a go.
What is your favorite sporting activity? (Or
sport to watch):
Have to say NRL. I played for so many years, I get itchy feet during summer waiting for the footy to start. My father was a referee, his father was a referee, I have a relative that played for Australia. It's in my veins.
What do you like to do to let loose/have fun/relax?:
Because I'm running around so much with clients and my own training, when I get downtime, it's put my feet up and relax. Try not to miss any NRL games.
What is your proudest achievement in life?:
Everytime I help a client reach a milestone, set a personal best, achieve their goal. That is my
proudest achievement. To know I helped them extend the length and quality of their life. Puts a smile on my face.
If
you could do anything with your life, what would it be?:
I've been very lucky so far in life and have done so many things. I would have to say though, I would want to help people realise the importance of staying fit and healthy and try and squash all those rumours and ill-truths that surround the fitness industry.
What's you favourite quote?:
Great things are achieved, not from strength, but from perseverance.
